Rail Parallelism

Variation in the distance between the rails will induce a shear or side load on the bearings.  In order to minimize the effect of this shear load, the rails need to be installed parallel within specific tolerances.  The tolerances for parallelism from rail reference edge to reference edge are shown in the table below.
