IP ratings stand for International Protection code ratings. The IP rating is a measure of how well an item protects itself from dust and liquid ingress.

The rating is made up of two numbers. See the table below for the breakdown. The meaning of the first
number is in the first column, and the meaning for the second number is
in the second column.
