Why is anti-rotation required?

Anti-rotation is added to the cover tube design of a linear actuator to prevent the screw assembly from rotating (and therefore extending or retracting the actuator rod) when a feedback device is used in the gearbox of the actuator. When the screw assembly is rotated manually without power, the gearbox stays still, which leads to disassociation between the feedback device and the physical stroke of the actuator.
