Until recent years, planetary gearheads were selected for high precision motion control applications based on high torque to volume ratio, high torsional stiffness and low backlash. But as servo motor technology improved, Thomson answered the growing need for planetary gearhead improvements with our high-torque, whisper-quiet helical gearhead. We accomplish this by combining the positive attributes of gear crowning and helical gearing with planetary construction.
Thomson is able to broaden its planetary gearhead capabilities through its technologies, design types and mounting flexibilities to the largest selection of products in the world. With over 2,000 size-and-ratio combinations to choose from, Thomson will have the planetary gearhead solution for almost any application.
- Direct inline planetary gearheads (DuraTRUE, UltraTRUE, EverTRUE, NemaTRUE, UltraTRUE, XTRUE) offer a variety of housing types from anodized aluminum to stainless steel. The HRC 55-60 steel gears provide superior wear resistance and increased backlash integrity.
- Right angle planetary gearheads (DuraTRUE, ValueTRUE, NemaTRUE, UltraTRUE) use our PowerTRUE technology utilizing a right angle gear-set mesh in a unique tooth design. This creates higher torque densities and increases the right-angle ratio range up to 5:1, extending the overall gearhead ratio range from 1:1 to 500:1.
- The Redimount motor mounting system allows an easy, quick connection of our True Planetary gearheads to virtually any motor. The innovative design with adapter sleeve and input housing enables mounting of the planetary gearhead in one working process.
- Thomson packages the proven performance of NemaTRUE and ValueTRUE planetary gearheads with AKM servomotors to provide a single unit, ready-to-mount integrated solution. Built for high torque applications, AKM gearmotors offer the precision and performance required by the most demanding motion control environments.
