Thomson Newsroom Highlights

KRISTIANSTAD, SWEDEN - Thomson has extended its TC16 range of lifting columns with increased stroke length configurations and a greater off-centre load handling capability. By extending the available stroke length from 400mm to 600mm and maintaining the TC16’s low retracted height design, Thomson has made it possible for machine designers to obtain their required stroke length from a smaller lift column package to design more compact machines.

Ball screws are often viewed as the first choice for linear motion applications because the use of recirculating ball bearings provides a high level of efficiency, load capacity, and positioning accuracy. However, with careful attention to selection and application, lead screws can deliver efficiency that comes...

The formula for determining the equivalent operating load (F eq ) is important . Many engineers will just use the nominal operating load (F) when calculating the life of a ball screw but in extreme cases this may neglect some significant loads and forces such as those due to impact, shock, extreme acceleration...

Learn More About Ball Screw Life

Many engineers use the nominal operating load when calculating the life of a ball screw. In relatively straightforward applications that works - but in extraordinary applications it is important to determine the equivalent operating load. Among other considerations, the equivalent operating load factors in significant loads...
